Your Body Doesn’t Care.
Often, when it comes to going to working out, we want to hit a certain number, do certain movements, and look / feel a certain way.
And those are some of the very same things that can make this journey frustrating and make us question ourselves.
It can be hard if we feel like we aren't making progress, when we can't do certain things, when it feels hard, and when we aren't seeing physical / mental changes / progressions in ourselves.
Something that can help you enjoy yourself more in the gym and the health/ fitness world is this : your body doesn't know weight or movements, it knows stimulus.
Your body doesn't care what movements you do, what weight you lift, or how you look when you do it... because your body doesn't know.
Your body doesn't know that you want to lift a certain weight or push for a PB. Your body knows the stimulus it is under.
Your body doesn't know that you're not lifting as much as the person beside you or even as much as you lifted last week. It knows you are exerting effort.
Your body doesn't know the difference between banded pull-ups or body weight pull-ups. It knows the muscles that are being engaged.
Your body doesn't care how you think a weight should feel. It just knows how it feels.
So, really, what I'm saying is.. it doesn't matter how much you lift, who you lift more or less than, and what movements you can or can't do.
That's not important to your body.
What is important is effort and stimulus.
What is important is that you move.
